The West Indies batsmen were embarrassed in the just concluded Test series. After 4 innings, West Indies did not put up a total above 200. In fact the West Indies did not even put up a score more than 175. Despite the deplorable batting display by batsmen who could not have handled the pace of Rabada, Ngidi and Nortje, West Indies T20 Vice Captain Nicolas Pooran is confident the West Indies will turn it around in the T20 leg of the tour.
Speaking to Caribbean reporters via Zoom, the wicketkeeper/batsman reiterated that the West Indies have the best T20 players in the World and once they do the right thing, they will put up some high scores.
The T20 series that will be played in St George’s Grenada will see fans returning to the venue.
Pooran added it’s been a while the players have played in front of their fans, and they are looking forward to it, as the fans have an important role to play. “The fans bring that extra energy for us, at the end of the day, we are entertainers”, Pooran insisted.
On his personal challenges, regarding a career threatening injury from an accident some years ago, Pooran stated it is his trusting in God and believing in himself has kept him going, as well as keeping his eye on his goals. Regarding his low IPL scores, the diminutive left hander insisted that he has full confidence in his ability to make his fans and the West Indies fans happy.
