TRINIDAD AND TOBAGO OPENS WITH A 21-13 WIN OVER GUYANA

The quartet of Steven ‘Lighter’ Lewis, Adrian Joseph, Moriba De Freitas, and Naython Lewis won this country’s first ever 3×3 game at the FIBA AmeriCup in Miami against Guyana on Friday.

The game started close with Guyana taking the early lead after a Naython Lewis missed layup. But Lewis who is one of this country’s best three-point shooters showed that he is better from beyond the arc as he quickly tied the scores at 2.

TRINIDAD AND T0BAGO ACTION FROM MIAMI TODAY

Guyana and Trinidad and Tobago exchanged early blows but the 2021 NBFTT Player of the Year Adrian Joseph found his range and Steven Lewis drilled long range shots from the right side as Guyana could only see dust as T&T took the lead for good and pulled away from Guyana as they held on for 21-13 win.

Moriba De Freitas’ presence in the paint was clear as his stone-walled defence was very important for the win.

Trinidad and Tobago will next play Guatemala. A win will see team TTO in the main group stage.
