Heartbreak for this country’s 3×3 basketballers as they did not progress to the Main draw of the 3×3 AmeriCup in Miami. Trinidad and Tobago split 2 games, in the qualifying draw, missing out on points difference. The first game against Guyana started closely, but it didnt take long for Trinidad and Tobago to take control of the game.
The quartet of Naython Lewis, Adrian Joseph, Steven Lewis and Moriba De Freitas were too good for Guyana, as they beat the South American country 21-13.The heart break occurred in the second game when they faced Guatemala who lost to Guyana by 1 point in their first game. It was straightforward for T&T win, your inside to the next round. You’re still in the next round if you lose by less than 4.But Guatemala showed intent early, while the Trinidad and Tobago shooters struggled to find their range in this game.
The Central Americans pulled away, opening a gap causing the TT team to panic and try the long range shots, instead of the playing the inside game. Guatemala held on for the 21-4 game, going through to the nest round and condemning T&T to the airport.
