BRAVO SAYS THE PATRIOTS CAN BE A DOMINANT FORCE AS CPL STARTS TODAY

St Kitts/Nevis Patriots captain, Dwayne Bravo says the reigning Caribbean Premier League champions have what it takes to be a dominant force in the CPL.

The former TKR champion, who is the first CPL captain to lead 2 different teams to CPL titles, said in Tuesday’s CPL virtual media conference, the just concluded 6ixty tournament was “a good foundation we started to build, we started to believe the franchise as a team”.

Regarding his decision to move to the Patriots from his native TKR franchise, the leading T20 wicket taker said he made the right decision.

Bravo sees his role as one to mentor the younger players in the team. One such player is West Indies allrounder, Dominic Drakes. “I’m very impressed with him and happy with his development in the last 12 to 18 months”. Bravo sees it as his responsibility now to make sure he continues his development. Not only Drakes, but Bravo also sees Sherfane Rutherford, Evin Lewis and Dewald Brevis as players to continue their development.

The St Kitts/Nevis Patriots begin their title defence against two time winners, Jamaica Tallawahs. At the virtual media conference, Tallawas allrounder Chris Green said the just concluded 6ixty “was fun”. The Australian cricketer added the 6ixty is suited to the local (West Indian) players. The allrounder added “the biggest benefit of the 6ixty, you get to play as a team before the (CPL T20) tournament starts”. He said the 6ixty allowed the players to find their feet, find out how the team operates and they were able to get that out of the way to hit the CPL ground running.
