West Indies all-rounder Kyle Mayers struck 73 from 46 balls ( 4 sixes, 6 fours) as Barbados Royals romped to a 7 wicket win over reigning champions St Kitts/Nevis Patriots at Warner Park in St Kitts.

Rahkeem Cornwall hit a feisty 39 off 24 balls ( 3 sixes, 3 fours) in an opening stand of 64 with Mayers to lay the foundation for the win, reaching the target of 150 set by the Patriots, losing just 3 wickets in the process.

Earlier, it was Andre Fletcher hit 81 off 55 balls to lead Patriots to 149. But the Grenadian did not get much support from his team as only Joshua Da SIlva got to double figures (19).

Ramon Simmonds and West Indies fast bowler Jason Holder took 2 wickets each to lead the Royals attack.

Royals go to 2 points, alongside Jamaica Tallawahs and Trinbago Knight Riders who beat St Lucia Kings in the earlier match on Thursday, while St Lucia Kings and the Patriots remain on 0 points, with the Kings playing 2 matches.

Action resumes on Saturday as the Guyana Amazon Warriors enters the competition against Jamaica Tallawahs and the Patriots come up against the Knight Riders in the late match.
