SPARTANS AND MORVANT OILBIRDS ADDED TO BIG BASKETBALL LEAGUE

New kids on the block, Morvant Oil Birds have been added to the BBL lineup, along with Spartans, taking the total number of confirmed teams to 9. They join Maloney Pacers, Straker Nets, Valencia Heat, Police, Defence Force, Quarters and UTT as the confirmed teams to take part in the Biggest Basketball Lime.

While the Oilbirds may be new on the scene, Spartans are no strangers to basketball. The Head of the organization, Garvin Warwick is a former President of the National Basketball Federation of Trinidad and Tobago and in the last North Zone season, they finished second to Detour Shak Attack in the Division 2 Championship. Spartans also host the popular Basketball Fiesta.

EXPANSION IN THE FIRST SEASON?

It was the plan of the BBL, that season 1 will play host to 10 teams of 2 conferences. However, there have been growing calls by teams to be part of the party. The executive of the BBL is actively looking at logistics to see if it is possible to expand the first season of the BBL to 12.
