The St Lucia Kings broke TKR’s hearts with a 1-run win over the home team at the Brian Lara Stadium in Tarouba on Sunday evening.
The Kings batted first and scored a competitive 147 for 6 in their 20 overs.
Johnson Charles scored 54 off 46 balls with 5 fours and 3 sixes.
David Wiese scored 33 off just 14 balls with 3 sixes and 2 fours.
Ravi Rampaul took 2 for 10 and Sunil Narine 2 for 31.
In reply, the TKR were set back at 16 for 3. But Tim Siefert and skipper Kieron Pollard repaired the damage and rebuilt the innings. Siefert scored 44 and Pollard scored 34.
The Trinbago Knight Riders needed 30 runs in the last 2 overs. The spearhead of the attack, Alzarri Joseph conceded only 8 runs in the penultimate over that allowed Roshon Primus the task of defending 22 runs in the last over.
Andre Russell hit two consecutive sixes to close the innings, but the TKR were one short, 146 for 6. Russell finished on 23 not out.
Roston Chase took 3 for 17 and Alzarri Joseph took 2 for 26.
With the win, the Kings move to second, 8 points, just like the Tallawahs on third.
TKR drop to 4th on 7, one point above St Kitts Nevis Patriots with the Guyana Amazon Warriors propping up the table with 3 points.
All teams have just 2 matches to play, except for the Amazon Warriors who have 4 matches to go.
The CPL will resume on Wednesday, at Providence in Guyana.
