Akheel ‘Smally’ Boyd continued his super form from the recent 3×3 AmeriCup when he led the Maloney Pacers to a huge win in their opening game of the Big Basketball League against Spartans at Pleasantville on Saturday evening.
‘Smally’ led the trio that include his brother Akheem ‘Fatto’ Boyd and Kadeem Greig as they dominated the North Zone Division 2 runners-up 94-76. Akheel led all scorers with 24 points, Kadeem Greig scored 19 and ‘Fatto’ scored 18 in the comfortable win.

The Pacers rushed to a 25-15 lead at the end of the first quarter and a 49-25 lead at halftime. Spartans ‘won’ the first quarter 30-20 to end the third quarter, trailing 55-69, with Shornelle Pompey leading the way with 20 points. Brewer and Sargeant contributed 17 points each.
The final quarter was even, as it went 25-21 in the Pacers’ favour as the Maloney team completed the 94-76 win.
The Pacers were especially dominant as a shooting unit, as they hit 16 three-pointers on the evening.
