QUARTERS EDGE STRAKER NETS IN OVER TIME

Ako Pascall scored 22 points to lead Quarters to their second straight win (89-87) over Straker Nets on Sunday at the Pleasantville Indoor Facility to start the BBL campaign 2-0.

It was a very close game in the marquee match-up, as Jeffrey Harris was playing his first game against his former team Straker Nets as a Quarters player (Harris did play against Straker Nets as a UTT player).

It may have been Quarters vs Straker, but the game felt like the 2019 North Zone replay as several of the Quarters players were on the Clippers roster that won the North Zone title back then.

The game lived up to its billing as only 1 point separated the teams at 19-18 after the first 10 minutes. Adrian Joseph had scored 2 threes in that period for 7 points but faded away as he only finished with 13. Quarters had a bit of breathing space at halftime as they led by 8 (40-32) at the half with Kirk Wattie hitting 2 threes for 8 points in the second quarter.

Quarters bounced back in the 3rd quarter, led by Steve Williams’ 2 three-pointers and restricting the South team to just 16 points in the 10 minitue period to close the deficit to 4 (56-52). The momentum continued in the 4th quarter, as the Quarters and Straker Nets were all tied up at 75.

In the extra 5 minutes period, Pascall scored 4 points to complete his 22-point scoring night as the Quarters held on to an 89-87 win to start the BBL campaign with a 2-0 start. Kirk Baptiste scored 18. For the Nets, Tristan Benjamin led 5 players into double figures with 17 points, Sadiki Guerra had 16 and Chike Augustine contributed 13.
