They say “When elephants fight, the grass gets trampled”. It is better to leave the ‘big men’ to ‘do their thing’. The matchup between the Police’s big men, particularly Dextroy Manswell and the Clippers’ Miguel Williams was epic on Friday night, as Clippers edged Police 84-81 in Maloney.
In the fourth quarter, Miguel Williams, completed a sweet move by the Caledonia Clippers, dunking the ball over Dextroy Manswell, but Manswell will get his revenge almost immediately when he dunked over Williams for 2 second-chance points.
Apart from the ‘Battle of the Bigs’, Orlando Mapp continued his hot streak, scoring 24 points, with 7 threes. At one point, the former Shak Attack guard hit 3 consecutive three as he has been doing all season. Steven Lewis, scored 14 to help Mapp with the scoring, while Kurt Christian provided the creative spark for the Clippers.
Seylon Williams continue to lead the Police offence, who were without the injured Joel Hinds, who is out for an undisclosed period. While Ronell Winter was at the venue, he took no part in the game.
Wesley Vincent, who came up against big brother Wilt for the Clippers, scored 14 points. Clippers now 3-1 for the season, while Police slip to 2-2.
Police next play Valencia Heat on Sunday at the Maloney Indoor Facility.
