PACERS ADD CLIPPERS TO THE ‘VICTIMS’ LIST

It was their toughest game of the season so far, but the Maloney Pacers keep their perfect record intact with a 97-88 win over the Caledonia Clippers at the Maloney Indoor Facility.

In a game where the Pacers never trailed, Ahkeel ‘Smally’ Boyd was the star, as he shone with 34 points to lead all scorers. Ahkeem Boyd was the next-best Pacers contributor with 20 points.

The Pacers set the pace early and led by 10 as earlier as the first quarter. It looked like a 5th consecutive blowout win for the Pacers was on the cards, but Kurt ‘Koto’ Christian had other plans. The experienced point guard poured in 26 points to lead 4 Clippers players into double figures.

The Pacers lead by as many as 22 points in the 3rd quarter, and by that time many thought the Clippers were done and dusted. But the Clippers continued to pile on the pressure and suddenly the lead was cut down to 8.

But each time Clippers got close, the Pacers would change gear and pull away to an 18-point lead. The Clippers brought the game within 8 points (88-80) in the 4th quarter. But a turnover allowed the Pacers to re-establish a 10-point lead.

In the end, the Eastern Conference leaders won Friday’s main attraction 97-88 to start the season with a 5-0 record.
