Derrick Boxhill scored a season-high 31 points to lead the Defence Force to an 87-76 win over Spartans.
It took the 2017 North Zone Champions 7 games in the Big Basketball League to finally register their first win, but it was a hard-fought win over lower-ranked Spartans (1-5). Spartans, had in fact led 22-21 after the first 10 minutes and maintained the 1-point lead at halftime (44-43).

Derrick Boxhill then took control of the 3rd quarter, as the guard scored 17 points and Defence Force dominated the third period 26-13 as Spartans lost the plot.
Spartans were able to steady the boat in the final 10 minutes, but the damage done by Boxhill could not be undone as Defence Force held on for their first win of the BBL.
Devon Waddle added 20 points for the winners. For Spartans, Shornelle Pompey again led the way with 19 points, Hahiem Furlonge added 18 and Amare Toney also added 18.
VALENCIA KEEP ON WINNING
Valencia extended their unbeaten run to 4, as they crushed a toothless UTT 91-34.

UTT were restricted to just 14 second-half points on their way to recording the lowest-ever total of the BBL. Valencia scored 34 points in the third quarter alone.
Kevin Garcia scored 17 points for Valencia and Jeffrey Saunders added 14 for the winners.
Valencia Heat and the Maloney Pacers are the only unbeaten teams remaining in the BBL.
