Christopher Jackson Charles and Barry Stewart have been named Eastern and Western Conference head coaches respectively for the BBL All-Star game.
Jackson has been at the helm of the Maloney Pacers for decades and has been instrumental in nurturing the talents of hundreds of basketball players including overseas professional Gimel Lewis, the late Shawn Lawrence, and 2015 Hoop-of-Life winner Keyon Joseph.
Currently, the Pacers are unbeaten in the Eastern Conference with a 5-0 record, the same as Valencia Heat.
Speaking of Valencia Heat, Jackson will have as his assistant coach for the All-Star Game, Valencia Heat coach Junior Williams. Williams, the founder and head coach of the Valencia Heat since 1998, was raised in Valencia, Williams uses his passion for working with youth and adult athletes to help develop complete basketball players.
In the West, Former Defence Force captain Barry Stewart has been at the helm of Straker Nets for a number of years. Stewart also headed the North Zone Basketball Commission and had served as a Vice President in the NBFTT at one point. Stewart has also served as head coach of several national teams.
Ashton Peters, who was elevated as Police Head Coach a few seasons ago will serve as Stewart’s assistant coach. Peters has also led the Police to multiple Mayaro Basketball League competitions. Before assuming the responsibility of the men’s team full-time, Peters has been the coach of the Women’s team for several years.
The All-Star game is set for the first weekend in February.
